Question quicklinks:

I would like to make a regular booking after the initial service. Question: if I wanted to vary the pick up and delivery days, what sort of notice would you like?

When you say things travel by laundry basket, do you mean a standard plastic basket that one would use when taking the washing to the line?

Is it possible to request TLC for some items but the standard service for others, perhaps by pinning a note to items needing TLC (such as dress shirts)?

You give estimate prices for standard business shirts. However, I was wondering if items such as jeans, t-shirts, polos etc were cheaper as, in my experience, they take less time to iron.

I would like to make a regular booking after the initial service. Question: if I wanted to vary the pick up and delivery days, what sort of notice would you like?

You can change your pick up and delivery times at any time. If you need to do so on a short notice, just let us know before 3pm and we can still include on you in that evening's run.

The great advantage of a regular booking is that we know in advance when your ironing is due and can make sure it is allocated to your favourite ironer.

We may ask for 48 hours if you call on a casual basis so we can make sure the appropriate ironer is responsible for your ironing.

When you say things travel by laundry basket, do you mean a standard plastic basket that one would use when taking the washing to the line?

Yes. If you send your ironing to us in a laundry basket, we can tag it for you with your name and even pop in a complimentary cover cloth for you to keep your garments protected during travel.

Is it possible to request TLC for some items but the standard service for others, perhaps by pinning a note to items needing TLC (such as dress shirts)?

Yes, you can put your TLC items into a separate bag or basket or as you suggested pin a note to any particular item that you require special care for.

You give estimate prices for standard business shirts. However, I was wondering if items such as jeans, t-shirts, polos etc were cheaper as, in my experience, they take less time to iron.

Yes, we actually break all the items into seven time categories, A to G. 'A' being hankies and such through to 'G' for doona covers. Standard shirt is a 'C' and a french cuff dress shirt or a ladies blouse a 'D'. All of the categories are printed on the back of our itemised dockets for your convenience.

How does the ironing travel ?

A preferred option is for your garments to travel in a standard laundry basket.
We will attach an id tag with your name and provide you with a cover cloth to protect your garments during travel.

If you don't have a suitable laundry basket, you may purchase one from Osca.

If you prefer to send your garments already on hangers -
You can place them (still on hangers) into your basket, or hand them to our driver directly to hang on a rack in the van.
Please ensure the garments are in a suit bag or a dry cleaning bag, clearly marked with your name.

How do you handle my garments during transportation ?

With utmost care.

The delivery van has racks to hang ironed garments during travel and is always kept spotlessly clean.

On pick-up, your garments are paired up with your wish card, and are taken directly to our workshop in Bulleen.

When ironed, your hanging garments will be delivered hanging in plastic dry cleaning bags for added protection (unless you specify otherwise) and your folded garments will be delivered folded back into your laundry basket.

Please note - Osca takes responsibility for all our packaging and we welcome customers to return any plastic bags, card inserts, or hangers for recycling.

Can I be sure my garments won't pick up any strange smells ?

Whist in Osca care your garments will not be deliberately exposed to perfumes or chemicals.

The Osca workshop is kept spotlessly clean and fresh at all times, free of smoke or other odours.

What kind of starch do you use ?

The starch we use at Osca is a natural vegetable starch, cooked up daily.
It is fragrance free & hypo-allergenic.

"Crisp" starch is available when specifically requested.

You may also send your own preferred product for us to use on your garments.

How do I know my garments are safe ?

All care is taken during transport and ironing to make sure your garments are safe whilst in our care.

Osca is fully insured against fire, and/or theft damage.

Your garments are counted and checked before any ironing. Our ironers only take care of one basket at a time to make sure your garments are not mixed up with any other garments in our workshop.

When the ironing is completed and again at dispatch, it is re-counted and checked to make sure all your garments are correct.

During transport and delivery, your garments are clearly identified and kept separated from other orders.

Osca provides an unconditional quality guarantee. This means - if we ever make a mistake we will do our very, very best to fix it for you.

What is a Cover cloth ?

A cover cloth is a cotton cloth used to keep your garments tucked in your basket for the purpose of safely transporting your garments to our workshop as well as keeping any unwanted dust or traffic odours away.

With a regular booking we'll provide you with a complimentary cover cloth with your own name on it for added safety.

Do you re-cycle ?

Yes, we take responsibility for re-cycling of any packaging we use to deliver our service to you. You are welcome to send back any packaging for re-cycling.

What do I do with leftover packaging ?

Although some packaging is necessary to protect your garments during delivery, we are committed to recycling and invite you to return any unwanted packaging back to us.

We will re-cycle what we can, return any non-reusable bags to the manufacturer, pass on old hangers to op-shops etc., or dispose of in a responsible manner.

How do you store my confidential information ?

For added security, your personal information (address, phone number etc) is stored on a computer that is 'offline', and not connected to the internet or any network.

When you stop using our services, your details are permanently deleted.

What is your privacy policy ?

We are sensitive to our clients needs and our mailing list is not for sale.

Osca does not share any of your details with any third parties, unless we are legally directed to do so.

Can I have a garment mended or altered ?

Yes we have a tailor available to take care of minor repairs and alterations such as small tears, hems and new zips.

Simply keep the garments intended for repair separate from your ironing and attach a note describing the repairs required.

Minor repairs and alterations usually take about a week from pick up to delivery.

How much do you charge for shirts ?

PLEASE NOTE - We try to be as accurate in our pricing as we can, so that it suits your needs and budget. Quoting an exact price is difficult until we know what your requirements are (you can fill in our wish list to make it easier) and have had a chance to iron your shirts to see how long they actualy take to iron to your requirements.

For example, a french cuff dress shirt takes about twice as long to iron as a polyester or cotton blend shirt. A shirt that has been hung dried takes less time to iron than a shirt that has been tumble dried with deep set wrinkles. You may want our ironers to look out for missing buttons and sew on new ones for you or need your shirts folded rather than hung on hangers. Whether you supply hangers and starch for the ironer to use or whether you prefer for us to supply extra hangers and the starch also affects the individual price. Whether you require our driver to pick up and deliver for you individually or you can fit in with our existing run also makes a difference.

The standard 100% cotton mens business shirt ironed to perfection starts from $4.50 (plus GST)* per shirt. If you require specific requests or prefer our ironers to take extra time the shirt may require, we can tailor our service and prices to your needs.

* Please note, Osca reserves the right to update its prices from time to time. Prices quoted here are current as of December 2014.

Why is a regular booking better ?

Knowing in advance on what day your ironing will be in our workshop, we can ensure your favourite ironer takes care of your ironing. You can rely on the quality to be consistent.

A regular booking ensures you always have preference over casual bookings and we are able to provide a 24 hour return.*

With a regular booking, you can also choose the day and time that suits you best for pick up and delivery.

You can have a free pick up and delivery when you make a regular booking on days when our delivery van is already in your area.**

With a regular booking, you can rely on our delivery driver to arrive around the same time.***

We will attach an id tag with your name and provide you with a complimentary cover cloth to protect your garments during travel.

* 24hr return example - Monday evening pick up, Tuesday evening delivery.
** pick up and delivery fee outside the delivery run $7.50.
*** Our pick up and delivery run is structured for the driver to arrive within 15 minutes of the appointed time subject to unexpected traffic conditions.

Why does it take 48 hours for a casual booking ?

We ask for 48hours with a casual booking to avoid disappointment.

Although we allow for extra bookings each day, it is unfortunately not feasible to employ an extra ironer on stand-by in case of extra bookings.

As our regular ironers are generally booked out at least 24 hours in advance, we need to either fit your booking in or organise an extra ironer for the following day. Therefore we ask that you expect a 48 hour return with a casual booking.

To give us the time to have an ironer available; and the ironer sufficient time to iron your garments to their best ability.

Can I get a FREE pick up and delivery ?

Certainly, our vans are on the road five mornings and evenings a week. Chances are we are already picking up or delivering near by. Whenever that is the case and your booking coincides with our run, we can certainly offer you a FREE pick up and delivery.

With a priority booking, you can have a pick up and delivery on the day and/or evening of your choice. A pick up and delivery fee of $7.50 may apply.

What happens if I am not home for a pick-up ?

If our driver misses you for and can not pick your ironing up, they will leave a card to let you know they've been, whether they can double back and return a little later or whether you should contact the Osca office to organise a more suitable pick up time.

In some circumstances a 'missed booking' fee may apply.
